JAMIEL SHAW JR. WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN

What happened to Jamiel Shaw?

Jamiel Shaw was walking home from a mall on March 2, 2008 when Hispanic gang members pulled up in a car and asked him, "Where are you from?" — code for what gang did he belong to, police said. Espinoza then allegedly shot Shaw, who was not a gang member.

Espinoza had been released from jail a day before the shooting. He had been jailed for resisting a police officer and brandishing a firearm. Authorities say Espinoza had served just over half his sentence before he was released. But he should never have been in the country. According to immigration officials, Espinoza was in the country illegally. Immigration officials say local law enforcement had never referred Espinoza to them because when he was booked, he claimed he was from California.Espinoza was arrested March 7 and charged with murder. The charge has been labeled gang-related, which could make him eligible for the death penalty.

Police said "Jamiel Shaw was a standout running back and a good student at Los Angeles High School". He also was the Southern League's most valuable player last season and had been recruited by universities including Stanford. Jameil Shaw's mother, Army Sgt. Anita Shaw, had been serving in Iraq but returned home when her son was killed.

Days late the Mayor of Los Angeles: Antonio Villaraigosa, attended a candlelight vigil to remember Jamiel Andre Shaw. "We don't know right now the nature of the murder, though we understand it could be prosecuted as a hate crime," Villaraigosa said.

The Shaw's family stated fighting to pass a measure called "Jamiel's Law." The proposed legislation would allow the Los Angeles police to ask crime suspects about their immigration status. On April 8, 2008. The Shaws and their supporter went to the Los Angeles city council to plead their cast. Shaw says amending Special Order 40 would free the LAPD to go after gang members who are also illegal immigrants. He says he doesn't want to target any one racial group, but he does want gang members off the streets. The public comment was emotional with the occasional raucous. The City Council listened, but took no action on the Shaw family's request to drop Special Order 40. (I must add Los Angeles is a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants and This “sanctuary city” policy cost Jamiel Andre Shaw, his life.) However, after the Shaw's and their supporter spoke.
A couple of the councilmen defined the special "order 40". Bill Rosendall even gave his condolences to a different child -who was murdered Augustine Contrelles- while addressing the Shaws. (I think that was inappropriate.)

WHAT IS SPECIAL ORDER "40"?A:
"Special Order "40" is not a law, but a police mandate that originated in 1979 by former Police Chief Gates and the L.A. City Council to prevent police from inquiring about the immigration status of arrestees. The LAPD argues that without Special Order 40, innocent illegal immigrant witnesses and victims would lose the trust of the LAPD and would not report crimes for fear of being deported. (You know they won't say illegal immigrants they perfer to call them immigrants.)

The Illusion of Conclusion

The L.A. Times, local television, city council and especially Mayor Antonio Villiaragosa, continue to deceive the African Americans/blacks community; by feeding them a big bowl of myths, "unity through multiculturalism". They'll continue to play this "illusion" game. As long as black forks don't get out of line. If Jamiel's killer was white; the media and our "Black leader" -from cost to cost- would have been all over this.(That's the truth!) In this case a black boy's killer was Hispanic, illegal, (so no one seems to give a damn) and, this occurred in a city that is run by Hispanics, and their a appeasers.

The media have tried to down play Jameil's murder by insinuating that he could have been in a gang; when there is reason to believe it was a hate crime committed by a documented gang member. (So I guess, because he was black he had to have been in a gang. NO way, Mr. and Mrs. Shaw could have raised an 'up standing young man'.) Mayor Villiaragosa and the city council have continued to ignore the Shaw family. Instead, they rather pass laws so that illegal immigrant can receive benefits.

I'm personally angry with the way the Shaws are being treated. Just imagine if it was your family. I know this kind of thing goes on all the time, but we don't speak out about we let people like this walk all over us. And where are our Black leaders when this kind of thing happens? No where to be found. This subject isn't popular enough for them. We need someone who is interested in the average citizen. We Americans must continue to fright for our right as citizen.

THE LANGUAGE BARRIER IN A CITY: MIAMI FLORIDA THE MELTING POT? NO LOST IN TRANSLATION.

Now before I begin, I will tell you I'm not a nationalist nor am I a nativist. I weight out the pros and cons before taken a position on issues. I embrace our culture(you know the melting pot we live in). Therefore, when there is a problem simmering I must bring it to the attention of others.

I remember searching for jobs in the Miami Herald news paper. Almost every job listing I came across the employers were seeking employees who were bilingual or spanish speaking. So that eliminated me from those job positions and every other American who didn't speak spanish. I have a friend with the last name Ruiz, she was able to submit her resumes and get interviews with many employers.(Great right?) But to their surprise, she was African American and did speak a lick of spanish. Conclusion she didn't get those jobs. It is very frustrating to want to work but can't get a job because you're not bilingual.

When I speak with friends of mine, they tell me they're leaving Miami and going north because they can't find work. "You must be bilingual" they say. I believe this is what you would call: language disenfranchisement in America. The notion of being denied a job or "services" because English is our first and only language that's ridiculous. Not absurd, apparently this is happening and it has been going on for a long time now. I'm going to go out on a whim and say our black Representatives and city official(the people who we put in office!)are looking out for our best interest.(I think not!) So, can count on them to do the fallowing: speak out openly against illegal immigration and raised questions into why Black American are leaving their city. However, they are silent on these issues and many more.

America is the only country in the world where we can have equal opportunity, but when the playing filed is not level, we the people become marginalized, displace and frustrated. So we must speak out about our right as Americans.

Illigal Immigration

Yes!If nobody say it, Black Americans are fed up with illegal immigration. We are fed up with the cries from illegal immigrants, their supporters and advocates. Oh and I must not leave out the organizations like La raza and MALDEF to name a couple; they have taken our laws and turned them to suit their needs. I'm sure you heard this before; when US citizens break the law, we don't get a slap on wrist. (No! we don't.) No one cares about our family situation nor encourage us to defy the law. But these people are getting a pass everyday?

Black American are irritated with the supporters of illegal immigrants invoking the civil rights movement. They say it's the same struggle.(Black Americans know better than that!) Actually it's an insult. La raza and other like the mayor of Los Angeles California want to sale us the black and brown unity story. The only people that are unified is the law breakers and the corrupted officials. I think they are being very deceptive, and they want to give an illusion of inclusion. But the American people are not buying it. And what is the black and brown unity? Every American, black, white, Latino, Spanish and Asian... should be "unified".

Black American are very disappointed in our so called "black leaders". Where is the NAACP or the other black leaders when you need them? The "black leaders" should have been the first to speak out about illegal immigration and their supporters. Our "black leaders" should have been the first to condemn the desperate attempts to invoke the civil right movement for an illegal cause. Instead they say nothing to this illegality. Black Americans need to stand up for what's right and not condone illegal immigration. We as Americans must do all in all power to stop the injustice of American people. What's good for the ganther must be good for the goose.

Corruption: To name a state that makes up their own rules as they go along: California, California is that state. They are bias towards American citizens. The lawmakers in California favors illegal immigrants over American citizen.
To be continue.

Until next.
